About me
My name is Queta, short for Enriqueta. I am a mexican multidisciplinary artist currently in the last year of Painting at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. I decided to come study to Italy because my life as a makeup artist was not fulfilling what I desired, so in search for that desire I began the journey that also began with honoring my roots.
I come from a family of artists, my Grandpa on my dad's side built one of the most important theaters in Mexico City back in the 50's "Teatro de los Insurgentes" which exhibits one of Diego Rivera's murals. They were friends, so Diego Rivera also painted my Grandma and my aunt.
On my mom's side, my mom is a mexican actress who grew up being a ballet dancer and then went to theater, acting and singing so she is basically one of the few dancer/singer/actresses in Mexico. She has done more than 30 soap operas and more than 20 musicals. My brother and I pretty much grew in the theater backstage and TV sets.
Thanks to these roots and the legacy from which I come from, my love and passion for art, all types of art, has never left my life. I began a career on textile design that I changed for makeup when I decided that I wanted to work closer to poeple and on stage or on set. But there was always something missing, a part of me that wanted more depth so I started working on special effects and then I changed to decoration and production design. I have been working all my life jumping form one place to another in the same industries until 3 years ago that I completely changed my life and decided to study painting. I had been painting more often since 2019 and experimenting with the themes that I liked which were mostly food.
Throughout this self discovery I am also finding that an artist doesn't necessarily have to stick to only one medium so I am indulging also in more forms of art like video performance, collage and recently sculpture. What I have been observing and taking in are all the qualities my ancestors left me and blessed my childhood with the magic of art that connects people and gathers worlds around the globe. And that is the goal.
Recently I've been working on creating events and groups to go see art together and form meaningful conversations around art with people that don't normally go visit art but are curious to.
On the long run the most important thing is to remember that we are made of art and that art connects and has been connecting civilizations and people for more that we can imagine.
I am eager to keep sharing so I will keep working and expanding my research.

And finally I just wanted to share a picture of my Grandma and my Dad on a ferry in France, this picture was taken around 1953 during their travels.
My mom was the first Peter Pan in Mexico back in the 80's, that is a fun fact.

La Tertulia - Milano
Gathering around art is a quiet form of resistance and conversation is a radical act.
Some of history's greatest ideas were born over dinner tables, in cafés, and in the company of curious people.
La Tertulia is a series of intimate cultural gatherings founded by Mexican visual artist Queta Dávila, created to revive the pleasure of dialogue through art.
Inspired by the historic salons of Europe and the tertulias of the Spanish-speaking world, each gathering brings together people from different backgrounds to explore art, culture, history, philosophy, literature, and the ideas that connect us.
We believe culture shouldn't be reserved for experts—it should be lived, discussed, questioned, and shared.
